Environment Canada has issued snowfall warnings for Monday night through Tuesday across Ottawa-Gatineau, particularly to the west and north of the capital. Western Quebec, northern Ottawa, and most of Renfrew County remain under snowfall warnings, while advisories extend to areas south of Ottawa.
Snow began Monday evening and is expected to taper off by Tuesday afternoon. By midnight, Ottawa’s main airport reported three centimetres of snowfall, though much of it had not fully accumulated by sunrise.
As of early Tuesday, Ottawa could receive up to 10 more centimetres of snow, with areas under advisory expecting an additional five to 10 centimetres. Western Quebec’s warning forecasts 15 to 20 centimetres in total, with no major wind concerns.
Despite the conditions, no widespread school bus cancellations have been reported.
Communities farther south, including Brockville and Kingston, remain outside the alert zone.
Colder temperatures are also in the forecast, with Petawawa expecting an overnight low of –10 C and a daytime high of –3 C on Tuesday, similar to Ottawa. This contrasts with the seasonal average high of 9 C for this time of year.
