As Tropical Storm Sara approaches Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, Air Canada and WestJet have issued travel advisories for travelers heading to the region. Tropical Storm Sara struck land overnight near the Honduras-Nicaragua border, bringing torrential rainfall across Central America. By dawn, Sara had intensified, with sustained winds of 80 kph as it moved west toward Belize and the Yucatan. The U.S. National Hurricane Center reports that Sara may soon reach popular vacation spots such as Cancun, Tulum, and Playa del Carmen, with heavy rains expected.
Air Canada has issued travel advisories for Cancun and Tulum, applicable to flights on November 16 and 17. The airline has adjusted ticketing policies for affected travelers. WestJet has similarly issued an advisory for Belize City, covering flights on the same dates.
