Air Canada and WestJet Issue Travel Advisories as Tropical Storm Sara Heads for Yucatan

As Tropical Storm Sara approaches Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, Air Canada and WestJet have issued travel advisories for travelers heading to the region. The airlines activated their flexible booking policies, allowing travelers to adjust their plans in advance of the storm’s projected path through Central America and Mexico’s top tourist destinations.

Tropical Storm Sara struck land overnight near the Honduras-Nicaragua border, bringing torrential rainfall across Central America. By dawn, Sara had intensified, with sustained winds of 80 kph as it moved west toward Belize and the Yucatan. The U.S. National Hurricane Center reports that Sara may soon reach popular vacation spots such as Cancun, Tulum, and Playa del Carmen, with heavy rains expected.

Air Canada has issued travel advisories for Cancun and Tulum, applicable to flights on November 16 and 17. The airline has adjusted ticketing policies for affected travelers. WestJet has similarly issued an advisory for Belize City, covering flights on the same dates.

For more details on Air Canada’s and WestJet’s updated policies, visit their official websites and check travel advisories. Stay tuned for further updates as Tropical Storm Sara’s path develops.
