Adele’s Haunted House Claims Allegedly Hurt £6M Mansion Sale

Adele has been accused of sabotaging the sale of a £6 million mansion in Partridge Green, West Sussex, by its owners, who claim her comments once implied the property was haunted. The award-winning singer rented the Grade II-listed Lock House in 2012 and described it as “scary” during an interview with Anderson Cooper on CBS, stating, “It gives me the creeps.”

Although Adele never used the word “haunted,” the property owner believes her remarks negatively impacted future marketing efforts. The 10-bedroom house, which sits on a 32-acre estate and features luxury amenities such as swimming pools, a tennis court, a helicopter pad, and a cinema room, has struggled to sell for nearly 14 years.

The owner’s planning application to convert the mansion into three residential units states the property’s reputation was “blighted” after Adele’s comments, with the only offer made in August 2020 withdrawn after the buyer learned of the supposed haunted status.

Originally built in 1909 and reconstructed in 1940, the estate has undergone several ownership changes, including a period as a convent. It remains on the market for £5,995,000.
