Manitoba health officials have announced four new measles exposure sites as the province’s outbreak continues to spread, bringing confirmed and probable cases to 106 as of June 7.
Among the newly identified sites is Plum Coulee School, located just 10 kilometres from Winkler, where potential exposure occurred on June 5 between 8:30 a.m. and 1:45 p.m., and on June 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Public health is working closely with the school to notify staff, families, and volunteers with tailored health guidance. Those present during those times are urged to monitor for symptoms until June 27 or 28.
The Boundary Trails Health Centre — serving the Winkler-Morden area — has also been flagged. People who visited the emergency department on June 7 between 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. should remain vigilant for symptoms through June 29.
Additional exposures were reported at:
- Portage District General Hospital ER on June 12 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (monitor until July 4)
- Steinbach QuickCare Clinic on June 10 from 12:50 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. (monitor until July 2)
Health officials are urging all Manitobans to be aware of measles symptoms — including fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, and a blotchy rash — and to contact health services before visiting a clinic or hospital if symptoms develop.
The province remains on alert as it manages the largest measles outbreak in recent years.
