Elon Musk’s social media platform X experienced a significant outage on Saturday, impacting over 25,800 users in the U.S. at its peak, according to outage tracker Downdetector.com. By midday, the number of reported issues had dropped below 650 as service was largely restored for most users.
Users in other countries including Germany, Spain, France, India, Canada, Australia, and Britain also faced difficulties accessing the platform during the outage.
Musk responded on X, saying he is “back to spending 24/7” working on his companies, including X/xAI, Tesla, and preparing for the upcoming Starship launch, emphasizing critical technology rollouts.
X did not immediately comment on the outage when approached by Reuters.
Musk, who spent nearly $300 million supporting U.S. President Donald Trump and other Republicans last year, recently announced a major cutback in political spending to focus more on his business ventures amid investor concerns.
Despite leading efforts to improve government efficiency by cutting jobs and contracts, Musk’s political stances have sparked protests impacting Tesla sales, which reported its first annual delivery decline last year.
To reassure investors, Musk announced plans to reduce his time dedicated to DOGE to just a day or two per week starting in May.
