Canadian music legend Neil Young has entered the fray in the intensifying feud between Bruce Springsteen and U.S. President Donald Trump. Springsteen, a staunch supporter of the Democratic Party, criticized the Trump administration during a recent concert in Manchester, U.K., calling it corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous, while urging fans to rise against authoritarianism.
Trump swiftly responded on Truth Social, calling Springsteen a “dried out ‘prune,’” and accused Vice President Kamala Harris of illegally paying him for campaign endorsements disguised as performances. The president further suggested a federal investigation into celebrity support for Harris’s 2024 presidential campaign.
Young addressed Trump directly in a blog post, slamming him for focusing on rock musicians rather than addressing serious global issues like the conflict in Gaza. He urged Republicans to “wake up” and criticized Trump as “out of control,” declaring, “We need a real president!”
This isn’t Young’s first political stand. In 2022, he removed his music from Spotify to protest COVID-19 misinformation, a move supported by Joni Mitchell. The feud appears far from over, as Trump escalated tensions Wednesday by posting a mock video showing a golf ball hitting Springsteen during an onstage stumble.
