Canadian Tourism to Los Cabos Surges 12.2% in Early 2025, Driven by Direct Flights and Experience-Based Travel

Canadian tourist arrivals to Los Cabos rose 12.2% in the first two months of 2025 compared to the same period last year, according to the Los Cabos Tourism Observatory. This marks the fastest growth among all international markets. Canada now represents 12.4% of all international visitors, solidifying its position as the second-largest source market after the United States.

The growth is attributed to increased air connectivity from major cities like Vancouver, Toronto, and Calgary, as well as expanded service from Winnipeg, Victoria, and Kelowna. Canadian flight occupancy reached 90% this winter, signaling robust demand.

Canadian travellers are increasingly drawn to wellness retreats, private villas, and culinary tourism. Rodrigo Esponda, Managing Director of the Los Cabos Tourism Board, said Canadians are looking for “meaningful experiences” in destinations where they feel “safe, welcomed, and inspired.”

Los Cabos is poised to attract even more visitors with events like the San José Jazz Festival (May 23–24), the Mifel Tennis Open (July 14–19), and Mexican Independence Day celebrations in September. With strong forward bookings and rising interest from luxury and leisure travellers, tourism officials expect momentum to continue throughout 2025.
