Poland is facing growing concern over school safety after a third attack at an educational institution in less than a week left three people injured in Warsaw, the country’s capital.
Police said the latest incident occurred on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at a private post-secondary school in Warsaw’s Praga district. A 21-year-old woman allegedly attacked a 17-year-old girl using what authorities described as a “dangerous object,” injuring two other people aged 17 and 24 in the process.
According to Warsaw police spokesperson Jakub Filipiak, one victim was taken to hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, while the other two received injuries that did not require hospitalisation. Authorities said the suspect was taken into custody.
The incident has intensified public anxiety following two earlier school attacks that shocked communities across Poland.
Earlier Attacks Leave One Dead and Several Injured
The latest attack follows two violent incidents reported earlier in the week.
On Wednesday, October 7, a 19-year-old student attacked people at a vocational school in Ostrołęka, central Poland, injuring nine people, according to reports. The suspect was subsequently arrested.
The following day, a 15-year-old former pupil attacked staff members at a primary school in Leszczydół-Nowiny. The incident left a 37-year-old female school caretaker dead and two other adults injured.
The attacks have raised serious questions about school security and the factors contributing to youth violence. However, authorities have not confirmed that the three incidents were connected.
Police Increase Security Across Schools
In response to the incidents, Polish authorities have stepped up security measures nationwide. Police reported detaining 76 people and checking nearly 50,000 schools as part of efforts to prevent further violence and reassure students, teachers and parents.
Some schools suspended classes or introduced additional precautions, while police patrols were deployed to educational institutions. Rumours circulating online about possible coordinated attacks also heightened fears among families.
However, the government has said it has found no verified evidence that the attacks were part of a coordinated plan or an online challenge encouraging school violence. Officials continue to investigate threats and related incidents.
The recent violence has placed renewed attention on student safety, online threats and the need for effective prevention measures in educational settings.
As investigations continue, authorities are urging vigilance while working to restore confidence among students, parents and school staff.
