Jigawa State Governor Reshuffles Cabinet, Reassigns Three Key Commissioners

In a strategic move aimed at enhancing governance and improving service delivery, the Governor of Jigawa State, Mallam Umar Namadi, has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle involving the reassignment of three commissioners to new portfolios. The announcement was made through an official statement from the Secretary to the State Government on Monday.

According to the release, the reshuffle is part of the governor’s broader agenda to reposition the administration for greater efficiency and to address evolving developmental needs across the state. The move comes just months after the governor marked one year in office and signals a commitment to refining leadership within key sectors.

The commissioners affected in the latest changes include:

1. Dr. Abbas Abubakar – formerly the Commissioner for Health, now reassigned to the Ministry of Higher Education.

2. Hajiya Zainab Babangida – moved from the Ministry of Women Affairs to now head the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

3. Alhaji Musa Ibrahim – previously overseeing Commerce and Industry, has been redeployed to the Ministry of Water Resources.

No new commissioners were appointed in this round, and the changes take effect immediately. Government insiders suggest that the reshuffle was influenced by recent performance reviews and the need to match leadership strengths with specific sectoral demands.

Governor Namadi reiterated his administration’s resolve to deliver on its campaign promises and emphasized that more changes may be on the horizon as the state pursues its development blueprint. “This reshuffle is aimed at strengthening our delivery mechanisms and ensuring we have the right people in the right places,” the governor stated in a follow-up media briefing.

Political observers in Jigawa have described the reshuffle as “timely” and “tactical,” noting that it may help accelerate ongoing projects in education, commerce, and infrastructure.

Residents and stakeholders have been urged to continue supporting the administration as it works to transform the socio-economic landscape of Jigawa State.
