Oscar Piastri delivered a flawless performance at the Miami Grand Prix, securing his third straight victory after starting from fourth on the grid. The Australian driver overtook pole-sitter Max Verstappen in a thrilling early battle and maintained his lead throughout, finishing comfortably ahead of teammate Lando Norris, who recovered to second after dropping to sixth on the first lap following a collision with Verstappen.
Piastri’s victory marked his fourth win in six races this season, extending his lead in the F1 standings by 16 points over Norris. The McLarens dominated, finishing more than 30 seconds clear of the rest of the field. Lando Norris, despite a valiant effort to reduce Piastri’s lead, was ultimately unable to catch his teammate.
George Russell took advantage of a Virtual Safety Car to leapfrog Verstappen into third, while Verstappen’s struggles continued, leaving him 32 points behind Piastri in the championship. The rest of the top 10 included Alex Albon in fifth, Kimi Antonelli in sixth, and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton in seventh and eighth, respectively.
Piastri credited his victory to a strong pace and excellent strategy, saying, “I knew I had a good pace advantage and the car was unbelievable.” The McLaren team’s dominant performance further cemented their position as a force to be reckoned with this season.
