Pakistan Cancels Flights to Gilgit-Baltistan Amid Fears of Indian Military Response After Pahalgam Terror Attack

Pakistan has cancelled all commercial flights to Gilgit and Skardu in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir just days after closing its airspace to Indian carriers, citing fears of military retaliation from India following the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir that left 26 tourists dead. Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) cancelled flights from Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad to the PoK region, with reports from Pakistani dailies Jang and Express Tribune confirming the shutdown as a precautionary security measure. The cancellations come amid heightened airspace monitoring and national alertness by Islamabad, as tensions escalate after the brutal, religiously motivated attack claimed by The Resistance Front, an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba. Kashmiris and citizens across India have condemned the killings and blamed Pakistan for sheltering terrorist outfits.
