Canada’s Peterman and Gallant Bounce Back With Dominant Win at World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship

Jocelyn Peterman and Brett Gallant of Chestermere, Alberta, delivered a commanding 11-6 victory over South Korea at the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship in Fredericton, improving their record to 5-1 in Pool A. The Canadian duo now sits tied for second with Sweden, just behind undefeated Italy (6-0), who handed them their only loss earlier in the tournament.

Peterman and Gallant seized control in the third end with a critical raise-tap shot that scored three, setting the tone for the rest of the match. The win keeps Canada in strong playoff contention, with crucial round-robin games against Finland and China still to come.

The top three teams from each 10-team pool will advance to the playoffs, with Olympic qualification implications also at stake. Combined results from this year’s world championship and the 2024 playdowns will determine which seven nations will join host Italy at the 2026 Winter Games in Milan-Cortina.
