Danjuma Urges Nigerians to Defend Themselves Amid Growing Insecurity

Former Minister of Defence, Lt. Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (retd.), has called on Nigerians to take matters into their own hands and defend themselves against the rising wave of insecurity in the country. Speaking at a public event in Takum, Taraba State, on Saturday, Danjuma emphasized that relying solely on the government for protection is no longer a realistic expectation.

His warning from five years ago, which he reiterated at the event, has become increasingly relevant given the recent surge of killings in Benue, Plateau, and other parts of Nigeria. Danjuma urged Nigerians to rise and protect themselves from bandits, terrorists, and criminal gangs that continue to wreak havoc across the nation.

“The warning I gave some years ago is still as valid today as it was then. Nigerians must rise and defend themselves,” Danjuma stated. He criticized the government’s inability to adequately secure the country and stressed that communities must take proactive measures to safeguard their lives and properties.

“It is now very clear that the government alone cannot protect us. We must stand up and defend ourselves, our families, and our lands before these criminals overrun the entire country,” he concluded.
