Lady Gaga returned to the Coachella main stage Friday night for the festival’s second weekend, reaffirming her status as a fearless live performer—even in the face of technical hiccups. Kicking off with her electrifying new single “Abracadabra,” the Grammy and Oscar winner experienced a brief mic malfunction just moments into the show.
Undeterred, Gaga quickly switched to a handheld mic and finished the number before being refitted with a new head mic without missing a beat. Later, during a piano segment, she addressed the glitch with a smile: “I’m sorry my mic was broken for a second. At least you know I sing live!” The crowd roared as she continued, “I guess all we can do is our best and I’m certainly giving you my best tonight.”
“Abracadabra” is the latest single from her seventh solo album Mayhem, which debuted last month. The album’s lead single, “Disease,” was released in the fall.
In March, Gaga also announced her highly anticipated “Mayhem Ball” tour, set to launch July 16 in Las Vegas. The North American leg includes stops in Seattle, New York, Miami, Chicago, and Toronto before heading to Europe in September. Additional global dates are scheduled this month and in May for Mexico City, Rio de Janeiro, and Singapore.
