Ukraine Launches Major Drone Blitz on Moscow as Russian Missile Strike Kills 10 in Ukraine

Ukraine has launched one of its largest drone attacks on Russia since the war began, with nearly 800 drones sent toward Russian territory, including more than 600 aimed at the Moscow region, according to Russian officials. At the same time, a Russian missile strike killed at least 10 civilians in a village in Ukraine’s northeastern Kharkiv region.

Russia’s Defence Ministry said its air defenses intercepted 791 Ukrainian drones across several regions, as well as areas around Crimea and the Black and Azov seas. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said more than 600 drones were headed toward the Moscow region, with 180 reportedly intercepted there.

The drone offensive caused limited reported damage around Moscow, although three people were injured in the surrounding Moscow region. A fire also broke out at a warehouse operated by Wildberries, Russia’s largest online retailer. The company said the facility sustained only minor damage.

The attack reflects Ukraine’s growing reliance on domestically produced long-range drones to strike targets deep inside Russia. Ukrainian officials say the strategy is intended to increase pressure on Moscow and demonstrate the consequences of the war to the Russian public.

Meanwhile, Russia carried out a deadly missile strike on Pechenihy, a village in the Kharkiv region. Ukrainian authorities said at least 10 civilians were killed and 17 others wounded. The attack damaged homes and several civilian facilities, including a café, post office, store and vehicles.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the strike and described it as a brutal attack on civilians, promising that Ukraine would respond.

The latest exchanges highlight the escalating use of long-range aerial weapons by both sides as the war continues. Fighting along the front line has increasingly been shaped by drones and other technologies, while diplomatic efforts to secure a lasting ceasefire remain difficult.
