The official YouTube account of Costa Rican President Rodrigo Chaves was recovered late Friday after an hours-long cyber attack earlier in the day.
According to a presidential statement, experts from the president’s office, the science and technology ministry, and Google collaborated to resolve the security breach. However, officials did not disclose who was responsible for the attack or whether any sensitive information had been compromised.
During the breach, the channel displayed a logo featuring the word “Strategy” alongside a bitcoin symbol. Videos promoting cryptocurrency were also uploaded—content the presidential office confirmed was not from them.
