Ottawa Parking Garage Collapse: Vehicles Trapped, No Injuries Reported

On February 26, 2025, a six-story parking garage at 265 Laurier Ave. W. in downtown Ottawa partially collapsed, trapping approximately 50 vehicles. No injuries were reported.

The incident began the previous evening when a concerned individual reported structural damage to one of the garage’s pillars. Ottawa Fire Services’ structural collapse team responded and discovered that five to six girders were bowing, with the top floor bearing a heavy snow load. Emergency crews evacuated the area, anticipating an imminent collapse.

At 4:47 a.m. on February 26, the top northwest level of the garage collapsed. Affected individuals are advised to contact Indigo, the company managing the garage, at ottawa.servicedesk@group-indigo.com.

Road closures around the structure remain in effect, including Slater Street between Bank and O’Connor streets, for both pedestrians and vehicles.
