Winnipeg ‘Prolific Offender’ Faces 68 Charges After Crime Spree

A 27-year-old man labeled a “prolific offender” by police has been charged with 68 crimes following a series of thefts across Winnipeg since August 2024. The charges include vehicle thefts, break-ins, threats, mischief, fraud, and court order violations.

Previously, the man was charged in 2018 after a police chase involving a stolen vehicle and again in 2019 for multiple armed robberies.

His latest offenses began in August when he allegedly stole a pickup truck at a gas station on Pembina Highway. The following month, he entered a restaurant, stole a jacket containing vehicle keys and a wallet, then took the victim’s vehicle and used their credit card for fraudulent purchases. That same night, he reportedly broke a car window on Border Street and threatened the owner before fleeing in the stolen vehicle.

Subsequent crimes involved stealing electronics from a shop on St. James Avenue, taking a vehicle from a hair salon on Corydon Avenue, and stealing purses from an animal hospital on Pembina. In October, he allegedly broke into a business on Sage Creek Boulevard and a restaurant on Dakota Street, stealing cash, liquor, and electronics.

Police later spotted the man driving a stolen vehicle on Pembina, but he fled on foot. By December, he was accused of stealing multiple vehicles, including one from a person sitting inside their car on Corydon Avenue. On New Year’s Eve, he allegedly stole an iPhone from a woman while an infant was inside her vehicle.

In early January, the man reportedly smashed a car window on Marion Street and later stole a wallet and phone from a parishioner at a church on Lakewood Boulevard, using the stolen credit card for multiple fraudulent transactions. Over the next two months, thefts occurred at a temple, a music school, a trade school, and various parked vehicles across Winnipeg.

Police arrested the man at his home on February 12.
