Winnipeg Senior Injured in Unprovoked Skywalk Attack, Suspect in Custody

A senior woman was injured in an unprovoked assault inside the Winnipeg Skywalk on Friday morning, according to the Winnipeg Police Service.

Officers responded to a call for assistance from off-duty officers around 10:15 a.m. on February 21, 2025, near the library/Donald section of the Skywalk. Upon arrival, police learned that a woman in her 70s had been attacked by a male suspect.

The victim stated that she and a co-worker were walking through the Skywalk when she stepped aside to allow a man to pass. Without warning, he allegedly body-checked her, causing her to fall and strike a window and railing, sustaining injuries to her upper body.

Off-duty Winnipeg Police officers nearby witnessed the assault and intervened. After a brief struggle, they apprehended the suspect and called for on-duty assistance.

The woman received medical treatment, though the extent of her injuries has not been disclosed.

Samer Dagher, 49, of Winnipeg, has been charged with Assault Cause Bodily Harm and remains in custody.
