Newly released video recordings show former U.S. president Bill Clinton and former secretary of state Hillary Clinton answering questions under oath about their past associations with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The footage was made public Monday by a U.S. House committee investigating Epstein’s network and the failures that allowed his abuse of underage girls to continue for years.
The depositions, which lasted several hours over two days last week, reveal both Clintons attempting to distance themselves from Epstein and deny knowledge of his criminal conduct. Bill Clinton told lawmakers that he had ended his relationship with Epstein long before the financier pleaded guilty in 2008 to soliciting prostitution from a minor. Hillary Clinton said she did not recall ever meeting Epstein at all.
Committee members questioned the former first couple extensively as part of a broader effort to determine whether influential individuals were aware of Epstein’s activities or ignored warning signs of abuse. Lawmakers said the inquiry is focused on accountability and uncovering how Epstein maintained access to powerful circles despite growing concerns about his behavior.
