Canada Wins Thrilling Shootout in Game 2, Ties Rivalry Series Against U.S

In a gripping showdown on Friday night, Team Canada clinched a 2-0 shootout victory over Team USA, tying the intense Rivalry Series at 1-1. The game, held in West Valley City, Utah, saw stellar performances from veterans and rising stars alike.

Canada’s captain, Marie-Philip Poulin, ignited the game with a go-ahead goal in the second period, despite being injured later in the game. Rising star Chloe Primerano, only 17, made a name for herself by scoring her first career goal, which would ultimately seal the win in a nail-biting shootout.

Team USA launched a fierce comeback, closing a three-goal gap to tie the game 4-4 in the third period with a final push from captain Hilary Knight and forward Grace Zumwinkle. But with the game heading into overtime and a penalty shootout, Canadian goalkeeper Ann-Renée Desbiens stood her ground, stopping five U.S. attempts. Poulin and Primerano scored in the shootout, securing Canada’s hard-fought victory.

The next game in this five-game series will take place in Boise, Idaho, this Sunday, with the final two matches scheduled in Canada in February.
