Identical twins Kay Rempel and Marie Chipilski, both 98, continue to bring joy and humour to those around them, living across the hall from each other at a 55-plus residence in Grunthal, Manitoba. The sisters, known for their witty exchanges and deep bond, were recently honoured at the Manitoba Legislature where MLA Konrad Narth praised them as “firecrackers” and presented certificates recognizing their milestone.
The sisters attribute their long lives not to diets or exercise but to their Christian faith, love for others, and constant laughter. “I never did eat healthy,” Chipilski joked, highlighting their playful approach to life.
Born and raised on a farm near New Bothwell with 10 other siblings, they have lived across the hall from each other for over 20 years. Despite their age, both women are mentally sharp and physically mobile. Chipilski is undergoing cancer treatment but remains in good spirits, while Rempel is driven by her love for her children.
The duo continues to enjoy life with daily TV sessions, shared meals, and relentless humour. They even joke about never hugging—saying it would be like hugging themselves. As they look ahead, they remain hopeful about returning to the legislature for their 100th birthdays.
